"And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn."
When God came to the earth as a human, he came in a dichotomy of absolute humbleness and the glorious announcement fit for divinity. Even the stars were changed by his entrance. The Almighty God of the universe made himself a helpless baby so that he could save us from our sins.
What kind of God does this for his enemies? What kind of God would temporarily leave his glorious throne, not just to walk among the unholy, but to experience every aspect of humanity from birth to death? A God who is merciful, loving, and gracious beyond measure.
His name is Jesus and he is Immanuel, God with us.
To create the manger, I used a miniature nest (found in floral section of craft store) and I glued some hay inside. For baby Jesus, I used a tan hood bead glued to a tiny swaddled piece of cloth.
