Advent Day 22: God Calls Ordinary People

“My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant."

Luke 1:47-48

Looking through God's story of salvation, we see a theme: God loves to use the ones the world doesn't expect. He chooses the lowly and undeserving.

The Prince of Peace was not born to a queen in a palace. He didn't come in grandeur. His mother was not even the daughter of a great priest or spiritual leader. God chose an average girl named Mary to bear his son, the Savior of the world.

Jesus entered the world in a way that would make us good Christians wag our fingers, murmur under our breaths, and clutch our pearls. His mother was a teenager and not yet married. God loves to surprise us.

Mary was an average girl, but she responded with great faith. She trusted God completely with her reputation. She called herself his servant and confessed her need for the savior who was growing in her womb.

God calls ordinary people and gives us extraordinary faith to accomplish his call.

Again, I used jewelry charms for this ornament-the music note is for Mary's song. Traditionally, a heart is used for Mary's ornament and I loved this heart charm with a fingerprint . It reminded me of how God shapes our hearts.
