February Favorite Things

Once a month, I love to share what I'm doing and what I love to connect with readers and promote the things I love. I hope you enjoy and please comment and let me know what you're up to.

Preemptive Love Coalition

When I heard about the crisis in Allepo, I felt distraught and helpless. I couldn't turn my back on these precious people made in God's image. But, what could I do sitting in Greensboro, NC? Then, I discovered Preemptive Love Coalition, which is a ministry who directly helps refugees in Syria,Iraq, and Iran. They are providing both short and long-term help to refugees. Short term help includes providing beds and food to displaced refugees (they planted themselves directly outside of Allepo, helping people who fled the city). Long-term help included providing medical care in refugee camps and helping refugees start businesses and find jobs wherever they are displaced.

Please check out their blog and website and consider giving.

Listening To

"Hiding Place" by Josh Garrels

I am currently obsessed with this song's hauntingly sober, yet hopeful melody and lyrics. Listen to it here!!

"A Series of Unfortunate Events" on Netflix

This darkly comedic, quirky show is probably the best book to film adaption I've ever seen. It captures the spirit of the books and every character is perfectly cast. My favorite is the baby, Sunny. I devoured the books several years ago and I can't wait for seasons 2 and 3 of the TV show!

Ya'll. I am so proud of myself. After a reading hiatus of almost two years (I am ashamed to admit this as a writer), I made a goal to read more this year. I've finished two books so far.

My favorite this past month has been Howl's Moving Castle by Dianna Wynn Jones. I actually read it twice, so I guess it counts as two? It is a fun middle grade fantasy (my favorite genre) about an eccentric wizard and an insecure yet sassy girl who gets herself cursed into an old woman. It is lots of fun!
